Written in the sand...

I'm sure you've seen where you can get your child's name written in the sand and have a picture taken of it. Well, I wanted to get one done for Carleigh and I was going to go to Carly but they aren't taking any new names right now. Then I thought how wonderful it would be to get her name written in the sands of Hawaii since she was still with me when we went there on vacation over Christmas! So I found Aloha Remembered. Emily, who runs Aloha Remembered, also has a blog called Stepping Stones for healing after loss.

I paid $15 to get Carleigh's name in the sand. The profits they make are donated to places like the March of Dimes and SHARE.

The beach that the picture is taken on is called Temple Beach on the island of Oahu. The beach is on the windward shore around the town of Laie (where Emily's sister lives), near the LDS temple and the Polynesian Cultural Center. (Of course you won't know what the heck I'm talking about unless you've been there.) There is a garden there and it is designated as a 'quiet place of reflection'.

Here is a picture of Temple Beach:

And here is a picture of Carleigh's name written in the sands of Hawaii:

I paid $3 extra so that I could get some sand and a shell from Temple Beach for Carleigh's scrapbook or memory box. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to get some of the sand her name was written in.

Something else that might put a little smile on that sweet face of yours today. I was sitting here responding to your "name in the sand" post and my daughter Emily spotted the picture of Carleigh on your blog page. She reached out and touched it and said something. {not sure what} Then she turned and kissed me.
Emily never usually bothers with ANYTHING I'm doing on the computer....so I just thought you would like to know that.

BEautiful! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to have Calypso's name done in the sand. I'm doing a project and getting her name written in the sand all over the world for her first birthday. I've gotten 42 locations so far and over 200 photos

That is just beautiful! Specially since it is at a place that you spent special time together. That is touching!!

I was also going to tell you that the other day I was looking at your blog and Shay (who is Kyndra's age) kept saying baby and pointing to the Carleigh's picture. I couldn't leave a comment because of the "help" I was getting while trying to type. I thought it was too cute :)

That is such a special thing!!! Especially since you were all there in Hawaii for Christmas! What an awesome gift. That would be worth far more than $15.... That will be amazing page for Carleigh's scrapbook/memory book.

Holly, you are full of strenth and encouragement. Thank you for sharing your family's journey with all of us in web land.

How ironic that you would have something like that done. I was telling mom a couple of months ago that I wanted to get Audrey's name written in the sand and hang it on her wall, since her room is a beachy theme. What's funny is I was going to have one done for Kyndra too!! This was way before Carleigh was born. Just thought I would share that with you. I still may do that!
