Sisterly Similarities

Ever since that moment I found out I was pregnant with Carleigh I dreamed of having another girl. I was so excited when at 15 weeks I found out I was going to be blessed with another little girl. I had always wanted to have 2 girls close in age like me and my sister are. My sister and I are 14 months apart and I figured up that my girls would be 15 months apart. Perfect!!

Finding out Carleigh wouldn't live crushed my dream. I was heartbroken.

I wondered what Carleigh would look like and if she would look like her sister. The moment I saw her on the 3D ultrasound I was stunned. All I could see was those cheeks! Those chubby cheeks! Kyndra had such chubby cheeks when she was born and here Carleigh looked like she would get them too.

I began to imagine Carleigh looking like Kyndra when she was born. Daddy gets to have another girl that looks like him. Thanks for sharing, hun. Now, when Carleigh was born I didn't take the time to see who she looked like. I just enjoyed her. It's only later that I can reflect on who she looked like most.

I can definitely see similarities between my girls. There are some things to take into concern though when comparing the two. Kyndra was 7 lbs and 19 in and Carleigh was only 3 lbs 15 oz and 13 in. Carleigh had anencephaly so her face/head isn't exactly proportioned how it should be so that can make it harder to see any similarities. And of course, Carleigh's coloring. Carleigh was born still and bruised. As time passed after her birth her skin became darker. Her coloring can make it harder to see similarities too.

Considering all that. What do you think? Can you see the similarities?

*Edit* I've had some people mention that they both had long fingers. Actually that isn't true! It may not look like it but Kyndra had short hands and feet with stubby fingers and toes. Carleigh was the opposite. Her hands and feet were long in addition to her fingers and toes. Carleigh's were definitely much longer than Kyndra's at birth. This was a difference I noticed right away because I was expecting them to be like her sister's. Kyndra's pic can be deceiving because she has her fingers curled.

I think they have the same cheeks, of course. The lip shape is the same as well. And those long fingers! They are definitely sisters and both beautiful!

Beautiful sisters! I see you in them Holly. Carleigh was little because she was born early but you are right,..they both shared those chubby cheeks. Both babies are just precious.

Our grandson Samuel who was born with anenchephaly looked quite different than Lynnette's other babies. He was a big boy,..but he wasn't born early.

Thanks for sharing Holly.
I love you.

Oh I see it, Holly! Like most commenters are saying, those cheeks are unmistakeable! Carleigh's lips were fuller than Kyndra's were but the shaping is the same. And I think their chins are pretty similar as well.

The shape of her mouth and her nose - - both your girls are beautiful and perfect - - sisters for eternity.

Absolutely...they look alike.

You should make them both black & white so that the coloring is similar. You can even lighten the contrast on Carleigh's so it matches more.

You can totally see the similarities, Holly! What's so funny is when they a sibling is born and they look nothing like the other one! :) That's what happened with my girls and my Hubby's family still teases me about wondering who Audrey's "real" dad is! It will be fun to see who your next baby ends up looking like!

I can definitely see the similarities. I have recently thought of doing the same thing with Noah's pics and Will's. They looked so similar and I often wonder if Noah would have looked as much like Will has he grew. I think Carleigh is just about the spitting image of Kyndra. Beautiful girls!!

Those lips, cheeks and that chin. They would have looked very much alike Holly. I think it's so cute we had the same wants I wanted two boys and I wanted Vayden to look just like Vashon but be darker and IMO he was, I think I may post a blog like this to see what others say. Great post, great idea, and beautiful daughters.

For 3lbs, Carleigh had some pretty good chub going on. She does look like a mini Kyndra. But same cheeks, same mouth shape, especially around the top, long fingers. They both did come out looking like Anthony. But Kyndra is definitely taking on some of her momma.

i think they have the same exact noses, their nostrils in particular are identical. I think they also have the same shaped mouths. Beautiful little girls, I am sorry they weren't able to grow together as you and your sister did, but also know that someday (in the far far FAR future) it is Kyndra's sister that will be first in line to welcome her into heaven.thank you for sharing both of your girls with us.
