A great aunt & uncle

Walking With You was created by Kelly of Sufficient Grace Ministries to help support those who have lost a child. Together we share our stories, helpful information, scriptures, encouraging words, prayer requests, and more. To join in on Walking With You please visit Kelly's blog.

This week, Kelly is sharing some commonly asked questions and answers about grieving the loss of a child. The rest of us may blog about a similar topic or share what is on our hearts this week.

I think I'd really like to share some on 2 loved ones who have done a lot for me on this journey. These 2 people are my Aunt Becky and my Uncle Buck.

They were always so much fun growing up and they still are although we don't get to see them as often. I could share tons of stories and great times but it would take way too long! They were there from the beginning. They reached out to us and gave us comfort. Uncle Buck wrote several things for me during the course of our journey with Carleigh and I shared each of them on here on her blog. (Let me just say that his writings are always incredible, whether they are meant to be funny or serious.)

Not even a month after Carleigh's diagnosis I received his first writing. This first writing was titled A Mother's Love.

He sent me a second writing after Carleigh's birth titled I Think I Saw A Miracle.

Together, Aunt Becky and Uncle Buck created a masterpiece called Carleigh's Toy Box. It was a total surprise and it's very special.

Uncle Buck also spoke at Carleigh's service and gave a sort of Eulogy.

Just a few days after our diagnosis before we left for our family vacation to Hawaii, they blessed us with a beautiful portrait and a letter. Both of them came down the day of my induction for Carleigh and stayed the entire time. That meant a lot. They didn't come into my room much and they saw Carleigh for just a little bit but never got to hold her. They helped watched Kyndra and my niece Audrey and were there to support the whole family. Aunt Becky was one of the few people in the family to feel Carleigh kick inside my womb. (The only other person outside of my immediate family was my Aunt Sherry.) I really think that being able to feel those kicks is a special gift because they will never be felt again. How I miss those little kicks!

My aunt and uncle are also making a memory box to put all of Carleigh's keepsakes in. I know it will be so special and very beautiful. It believe it will be made out of a type of oak and lined with cedar and stained with a darker finish. I can't wait to see what it will look like!

This was kinda random and here and there but I wanted to be able to share their hard work and my uncle's writings with those that recently started following Carleigh's blog. Back when I shared them, I did not have as many followers as I do now. I hope you will take a little time to read and enjoy them if you haven't already. I know I have read them many times. I hope they move you like they have moved me.

Thank you Aunt Becky and Uncle Buck for your love, your comfort, and your support. We love you.

I just went back and read all of the letters from your uncle. WOW! I am so glad you had people support you like your aunt and uncle did. It was a wonderful blessing to read your uncle's heart. Just as it is a blessing to read yours as well :)

My goodness - Holly your family certainly feel the same heartache for Carleigh's loss. That initial Mother's Love letter is just so heartfelt and true. I am so touched at the toy box created out of the family barn's wood. How sweet of them to creat such a wonderful piece for carleigh. Such things to treasure!

What a Blessing to have such wonderful people in your life! These kind of people make these hard times just a little easier to get through.

On a side note, the memory box sounds like something I have been looking for to keep Faith's things in. Right now they are in a rubbermaid container. Is there a chance they would want to make one for cost or where I might be able to find one?

Blessings to you,
Karen

What an awesome Aunt and Uncle you have! I had not read this posts before, and they truly touched my heart. There is no doubt that they will always love and remember Carleigh and I know how much that means.

Thank you for sharing those beautiful letters from your Uncle Buck!

And that box is absolutely gorgeous.

It's obvious they love you at least as much as you love them and that Carleigh's impact was significant.

Still is :)

Oh Holly you are blessed to have such wonderful people in your life, let alone in your family. You always amaze me with how you stop and think of how wonderful other people are in your life. The letters were so perfectly written.
