Day 6 ~ Capture Your Grief ~ What Not To Say

Day 6 of Capture Your Grief has us sharing something terrible that said to us in the wake of your loss.

These are just few of the insensitive things I have heard from people. There are more that I could put. There are things I have heard from others that people have said that just make my blood boil. It is unbelievable what comes out of the mouths of others, especially those who claim to love you.

I recently miscarried (I have not said anything on fb or my blog... Not sure I will). It was really early, relatively painless (physically at least) and quick. God was ever present during it all. But I had a friend ask me, "I mean, were you really pregnant?"..... Seriously? Did you just ask that? It was one of those things I brushed off at first. I mentioned it to Tim, and he was livid! Which kind of validated my hurt. Anyway, this whole process has really broken my heart to amazing women like you who have had such grief and heart ache. God bless you. Words are simply inadequate.

I was confused when I saw the thumbnail of your post as I only saw "I'm sorry for your loss." and wondered why it hurt you so badly, and am now truly shocked that someone would say that to you. What were they thinking?! Oh, Holly, that comment has me in tears for you. So insensitive.

PS HappyascanB, I am so very sorry to hear you lost your wee one. My heart goes out to you.

Like Jamie I thought to myself I say "Sorry for your loss" all the time but I see that your precious Carleigh was still living. Those were thoughtless words. ((HUGS))

When the page was loading, all I saw was "i'm sorry for your loss" and I was wondering why you were upset by these words. Then I saw the part where Carleigh was still alive. Oh my goodness... I cannot believe someone said that to you especially since you had chosen to CTT. That really breaks my heart, I'm so sorry!

I also hated it when people told me "your're strong and you'll get through this". I was barely surviving and wanted to be carried by anyone. I had never been weaker... I think that people just said this to make themselves feel better about walking away.

All of these statements hurt to the core of your heart...... I remember you mentioning that statement about Carleigh.... It's just crazy talk....
