Giveaway #6

Giveaway #6 is by Dana from The Midnight Orange. Thanks so much, Dana, for doing this giveaway!

Dana creates some wonderful pieces for both her shop and for custom order. Her angel statues are perfect for those who have lost a child. Babies in the sculptures can be made with angel (see below), butterfly, or dragon wings. Sculptures can be made to include just a mommy or daddy and baby, sibling(s) and baby, or a family. Multiple angel babies can also be made. The possibilities are endless!

I have one of these wonderful sculptures from Dana and it is precious! Very lovely to look at!

This giveaway is for one sculpture priced at $22 (includes shipping). If you would like to create a sculpture that costs more than this, please expect to cover the remaining cost.

To enter, leave me a comment telling me in what ways you use your creativity to remember or honor your baby. Have you created something special for your baby? Do you write poems or draw or paint? Please share!

If you haven't read this post already, please do so that you know how I am running these giveaways.

I LOVE these pieces and have been wanting to order one...YAY!! As you know I create jewelry. I have made several pieces that include Sophia & Ellie, but even when I am making a piece that is not for someone who has lost a child, I still think of my girls while I am working on it. It is because of them that I do it. xx

Hi. I can't really say what I have done to be creative as Lilly only passed away 3 weeks ago and I am still moving in slow motion. I can however, share the ideas I have. I plan on using her flowers that I've saved to make a shadow box, I am going to make a scrapbook for Lilly. I bought a journal that all of us can write poems, songs, draw pictures, stories and we can take it when we visit her graveside and read them to her. I also plan on writing a song for her with the help of my husband. I plan on somehow adding a link to my blog where all the wonderful people that met Lilly can tell their story that they have of Lilly. Also some of the flower petals and flowers that I don't use for the shadow box, I plan on ordering jewelry/rosaries that are made from flowers and giving them as gifts to family members and friends so they can have something to remember Lilly by. Obviously this will take lots of time but they're projects that can be spaced out over time which will be great for me. Sorry this is long. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Oh and I really can't take credit for the rosary/jewelry made from flower petals as it was suggested to me by Lizette. Sorry about that.

Those sculptures about made me loose it. They say so much. They magnify the loss of ones child so perfectly. Really capturing the love between child and mother.

I enjoy writing poems for Isaiah, and just writing in general. As you already know, I had gotten a tattoo to share his life with others. I refused to just sit back and be quiet about his life. Thus, the tattoo was created.

I've fallen so behind in your giveaways these past few days with being so caught up in planning Freja's birthday....
I love these sculptures. I've seen her store on Etsy and have been wanting to buy one.
Writing has been a big thing for me throughout this grief journey. One thing I know I need to do is write down the memories I have of Freja's life which I haven't written about yet. I am so scared of forgetting details, but even a year later, I can go back to those days of her life in my mind and it is all still very clear. I've also found healing in making receiving blankets for the NICU she was in. I have a big storage box of fabric sitting here waiting to be made into more...
Thinking of you as you get closer to you sweet girl's birthday.

wow what a coincidence. I was actually contacting this etsy seller to see about doing a custom piece for my angel baby.! (its a sign ;) ) This was one way I was using my creativity (or my vision) to honor my baby. I also designed a memorial tattoo that I got a few years back. I absolutely love it and has brought me such peace. I have written my angel poems, had her name written by other angel mamas and done some myself. I have created blogs in her name.... my doula business in her name... there is so much. She just inspires me in live in general.

I have done several different things to honor my sweet Lilly Bean.
I made my husband a collage of pictures from the day we had a positive pregnancy test, to the day she was born.
I also made him a DVD with pictures, set to music. :-)
Since Lillian passed away, a way that I am honoring her is serving others who are going through the same things my husband and I went through ourselves.

I have a fundraiser once a year around his birthday to raise money for CDH. I have had my husband create a tattoo. I talk about him constantly! Not all that creative...

Again, writing about my sister, since i hope to win something for her.
My sister, on Kyle's birthday makes him a cake each year and they (his 2 younger brothers and younger sister) all sing happy birthday. She also releases balloons. She has a special memory box with "everything" of his from the hospital. And of course every year she does the March of Dimes Walk. Which each year she raises more and more money.

I am making my precious Karinne a beautiful blanket on my weaving loom. I'm actually making 2 - one for her burial & one to keep. I've cried many tears into those yarn threads and said many prayers.

These little sculptures really touch my heart. I love the "Lifting You Up" one with the family. Win or not, I hope to get one like this with a family of 6. Thanks Holly for showcasing these amazing mementos to honor our little ones!

The one with angel wings just made me cry!

When we started our IVF process with Maddie, I started a journal going through the whole process. After she went to Heaven, I continued to write to her in it. I hope to share it with my children someday, so they know their sister better.

Love to you, Holly.

Hi Holly--I have not been around much lately. When I saw this post and these sculptures, I wanted to get my name in. I have seen these before and they make me cry. I will get one some day.
I like to be creative with photos--I've made memory books for my kids from Chase. I want to sew/make some blankets to take the the NICU where Chase was, but have not yet. It's been difficult this last month...in anticipation for next month, I think. I just noticed Carleigh was due on the day that Chase died. I knew were were about the same pace on this journey...hoping your preg is going well.
Hugs,
Christy

Thanks for getting Dana to donate a special sculpture, they are incredible!!! I am already an etsy fan of her work.

I made a scrapbook for my angel babies. I finished it for myself on Mother's Day 2008 and sometimes it is just very therapeutic to look through it. There are sympathy cards, pictures, hospital , and personal little mementos in there. It really helps me to have these thins all in one place. Its also a very good way to share my story with others who are interested or who have suffered through pregnancy loss.

I've had this sitting in the dock and may be too late to qualify for the giveaway, but I wanted to leave a comment, anyway.

These angels are beautiful!

There are so many wonderful ideas here; in fact, I've bookmarked the post so I can check out some of the blogs listed!

I wrote a book about our brief time with our third baby, Jeffrey. It continues to provide great therapy for ME after over 12 years, and I hope that it helps others as well.

You continue to do a great job, Holly! Your babies are surely beaming :)

I have been working on a scrapbook for Eliana, so there is a little bit of creativity on each page. I have some other ideas of things to do with her momentos, but I haven't implemented anything yet. I also did a project making fleece blankets in her memory at the time of her due-date last year, and we donated them to a local pregnancy center. I hope to make this an annual event.

I am in awe looking at these statues. I used to just stare and wish so badly I could afford one!
I want to start painting, but every time I get close to starting a painting, the pain gets so raw. I know I should use that as creative energy, but it's ard. Maybe I'll start soon.

My creativity has been through photography. I've always wanted to do it, and after losing Christopher, I finally decided to do it. I bought a decent camera, and I am currently learning to use it. I hope that one day that I can be good enough to join Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep so that I can return the favor and the love given to me and my family.

I created a website in remembrance of my son, with an etched-effect background of his face. By using this technique, it looks like his face was carved out of stone...that way, I don't see the splotchiness of his skin without bloodflow, and other people aren't afraid to look at him. It also provides the announcement we wish we'd sent about him. Better late than never!
