March for Babies

Ok, I wasn't planning on walking for March for Babies this year but then I got a team captain packet in the mail. I thought what the heck and decided to go ahead and do it. So I freed up my weekend since I was supposed to work that weekend and voila-Team Caring for Carleigh is up and running and ready to go! And my own personal page can be accessed through the banner above.

Those who joined us in walking last year are welcome to join us again and if you didn't walk with us before then we encourage you to walk this year! Our walk will be on May 7th in Findlay, OH. If you're interested then just send me an email at caring4carleigh@yahoo.com and I'll walk you through the steps on how to register and join our team online (unless you know how to do it yourself).

Anybody else walking this year? If so, leave the link to your personal page and I'll donate a couple dollars to your walk.

I was also planning on getting tshirts again for our team and was thinking how nice it would be to have the names of babies gone too soon on the back. I've seen a couple other moms do this and I always loved that my baby was included on their shirt. So, if you would like your baby's name included on the shirt please leave their name in a comment. I will prolly only do first names though so that there is more room on the shirt. It would be an honor to walk with your babies' names on our shirts.

March for Babies 2010

Saturday, May 1st, was our March for Babies walk. The day called for scattered thunderstorms but I was hoping the rain would stay away. It was drizzly at the beginning and then rainy during party of the walk. Towards the end of the walk it stopped rainy but was still muggy out. It wasn't that bad though. 2 years straight of rain! Maybe next year we'll get that sunshine!

Thank you to everyone who came out and walked on our team-Mom & Dad P, Mom & Dad H, Chantel, Rob, Autymn, Braxton, Jen, Aunt Nancy, Amber, Jaiden, Zyven, Parker, Aunt Jenny, Patience, Megan, Shelia and her daughter (sorry, I can't remember the name!). Anthony, Kyndra, and I are so glad you came out and joined us!

Thank you to Sarita, Jodi, Caroline, Susan, Lisette, Harriet, Debby, Stephanie, Kelli, and Sara for donating to me! Your support is much appreciated and I was able to raise $200 for the March of Dimes.

Here are a few pictures from the walk. Sorry that the quality isn't the greatest. My small camera decided to not function during the walk after 1 picture so my friend Jen sent me some pics via email and the resolution is small. I'm sure glad she had her camera! Word of advice-don't put cheapo batteries in your camera because then your camera might not work!

I had intended to create a poster but I never got around to it, which ended up being ok since it rained. Maybe next year I'll get that done. If you're in the Findlay area and want to join us next year for the walk we'd love to have you on our team to walk for Carleigh!

March for Babies 2009

Today was the March for Babies walk in my area. I created my Caring for Carleigh team and we had 8 of us walking that day. I had a few people not come to the walk. I was worried about the weather as it called for rain but God was on our side! It was foggy and muggy and rained up until the walk but it didn't rain the entire time! Praise Him! I wanted to print out a picture of Carleigh and attach it to Kyndra's stroller but in the hustle and bustle of getting around I totally forgot. I'm sure she doesn't mind. :)

Those walking today on the team were me, Anthony, my best friend Lindsey, her husband Jarrod, my sister Katrina, my mom, Aunt Nancy, my cousin Amber, plus all of our kids! So 8 adults and 5 kids!

The walk itself went great. There was a 2 mile and a 4 mile course. We walked the 2 mile and then came back to the park. Aunt Nancy accidentally fell down a muddy incline and tipped Kyndra and her stroller over too but other than that there were no accidents. They were a little muddy after the incident but we got it cleaned up pretty good. The kids got some balloons from some clowns. We ate some food that was provided by Subway and Donatos pizza. There were some yummy cookies there too! I won a couple door prizes-a pizza from Papa John's and an oil change from Monroe.










I want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated to me for the walk. I raised $400 for the March of Dimes and as a team we raised between $700-800. (I can't remember the exact amount.) Thank you to Brandy, Celia, Sarah, Dena, Camille, Jennifer, Rachel, Cathie, Jenifer & Brian, Sharon, Debby, Darcee, Heidi, Sara, and Carolyn. I couldn't have raised what I did without your support!!

Also a THANK YOU to Deidre from Dees T's who generously donated our team shirts for the walk. The design turned out really great and I loved it!!

March for Babies

I wanted to let everyone know that I will be walking in September for the March for Babies sponsored by the March of Dimes. I have created a team named Caring for Carleigh and would love for you to walk with me if you are able. We will be walking in honor of Carleigh and all babies who have been born with anencephaly. More than 120,000 babies (1 in 33) in the US are born each year with birth defects. The March of Dimes is investing millions of dollars in Nobel Prize-winning research offering hope for preventions and solutions for babies born with birth defects. Today there are 161 days left until the walk!

I know it may seem kinda early to start a team already but I would like to have plenty of time to raise a good amount of money. The more the better! I have set up a widget at the bottom of the blog to track the progress of my goal. Right now I have set it at $300 but I would love to raise more than that. I have set the team goal at $1000. You know what would be great!? Raising enough money to increase those goals to something higher! Join the team and spread the word!
