Birthday post #6 - The Balloon Release

After everyone had written out their cards and tied them on the balloons to send up, we packed up most of the balloons into one of our church's vans and we all drove out to the cemetery. The cemetery is about 10 minutes from our church, which makes it nice to visit on Sundays.

Before the party I had went out and put up a new flower arrangement for Carleigh just for her birthday. I really loved how it turned out.

After everyone had gathered around her headstone, we all sang Happy Birthday to her and then we released our balloons. We watched as they slowly floated away until you couldn't see them anymore. Even the horses were present for the balloon release. That seemed pretty fitting seeing how they were present for the day of her funeral and almost every visit since.

After the balloon release everyone stayed for a little bit longer and talked. Then one by one we said our goodbyes to each other and to Carleigh. I always love to see Kyndra's interactions at the cemetery. They make my heart melt!

I'll love you always my little girl!

HOlly - this made me cry :) What a moving site to see the rememberance and honor symbolized in the celebration you held! I know everyone there must have truly felt apart of something that day. Great job for making it a beautiful day!

One of these days I will read your posts and not start crying. I am amazed still by how strong you are. I may never meet you face to face (on earth that is) but I am so blessed to know you!!

Kyndra's hugs bring tears to my eyes. Sometimes I think kids understand so much more than we think! Maybe even more than us...
